Kohan has a simple life but he’s happy. The only thing that’s missing is that special someone to come home to at night. That is until he literally bumps into Ares, a man who sparks his interest, but he rushes off before Kohan can talk to him. When he sees the stranger again, Kohan is determined that he's not going to let him escape this time.
What Kohan doesn’t know is he's falling for a guy that has been through more than he could ever imagine, and when Ares’ dark past catches up with him, there might be a chance that neither man will walk away unhurt.
We all dream of finding that one true love, the person who completes you, and when you find them you should hold on tight to them. But what happens when that dream turns into a nightmare, one that you can’t escape from? Ares is running from a past that almost cost him his life, a past that changed everything.
When he meets Kohan he’s scared of letting someone in, scared that history will repeat itself, but finally he sees that not everyone is out to hurt him. He sees that maybe someone could love him without causing pain.
But when the thing Ares is hiding from appears again, it takes him right back into that dangerous past and he doesn’t know if he will survive it this time.
My name is Ares, and the man I married is the person who will probably kill me.
I want to leave.
I want to escape.
I don’t want to die.
My name is Ares and I want Someone To Hear Me.
Please Note this book contains scenes of domestic abuse that some people may find uncomfortable.

First of all, this was excellently written. The emotions came through so well. It was heart wrenching to read what Ares had been through. It was heart wrenching to be inside his head when he was doubting himself, thinking he was nothing and was not worthy of anything good in his life. Being in Kohan's head was powerful as he got to know Ares and worked to help their friendship grow.Poor Ares is just trying to move on with his life after escaping his abusive husband and putting the man in jail. He meets Kohan, who just wants to be his friend and help him fight his inner demons. The two have their ups and downs, eventually becoming more than friends. Kohan is the perfect friend right from the start. He's there for Ares, not flinching or running when Ares reveals parts of his past. Kohan is understanding, attentive, and listens without judgement. A good ending, after they go through a few days of hell.
Although this was a good book, the typos kept bogging me down, and this is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. There were two spots in the book where an entire paragraph was repeated! What person/people edited this? There are words missing as well (although I know some of that is the way the British language is), and then there are missing endings on words for past tense, present tense, and it's 'they rolled the stretcher PAST me', not PASSED me. Sorry to be nit picky, but those types of things should have been found by the editors (especially the repeated paragraphs!).

Someone To Hear Me edition by Ta McKay Romance eBooks Reviews
This book broke my heart but also gave me the feels of love, anger, redemption and protection. Kohan was sweet, understanding, patient and so loving to Ares who was so scared but strong. I wanted to hold them both and tell them everything would be ok. If you are sensitive to the subject of abuse this book is not for you but otherwise this book is so worth the read.
Bruises, and scars are what cover his body! But the broken man inside is what destroys Ares soul! Years Ares stayed with is husband who physically and mentally abused him trying to find the love he so desperating wanted but the last time he tried to kill him Ares finally left! Now he is broken and after so long afraid of everyone decides to at least get out and get a job at night! Then he runs into Kohan and something about him makes Ares want to open for the first time! He wants to have a friend! Someone to finally trust. Someone that can hear him even though hearing has been taking from him!
Kohan sees Ares as the strongest man ever for what he has been through! Even though what Ares needs is a friend, Kohan can't help but fall in love with him and wants nothing more than to protect him!
Broken man who wants to love and man who will do everything in his power to be the strength that he needs!
I was given an advanced readers copy of this book. Wow, just Wow! Tracy is becoming one of my go to authors! This story is beautifully written. It details the life of Ares who thinks he has found his happily ever after only to realize he is married to an abusive monster. Hiding out and trying to cope with all that has happened to him, he meets Kohan. Afraid to let anyone in after the abuse he has lived through he is hesitant but Kohan is nothing but persistent. Learning to trust is something an abuse survivor is not wired for. When Ares realizes the ex has been released from prison he once again has to fight for his life. It is a heartbreaking account of what actually happens in an abusive relationship. This is a story of survival. Well done Tracy McKay!!!
I loved everything about this book. The love between Ares and Kohan, which grew gradually. Ares struggle to live a normal life and the end. Nerve wrecking end... worth reading!
I don't understand how this story has 4and 5stars . The idea was good and the first two thirds were well written even with the repetition and the glacial pace the author chose to relay the story. The last third was frustrating and sorry, but unbelievable. Ares part was understandable. Kohan on the other hand didn't make sense. The man was a reporter who time and time again ignored and tried to reason away what was blatantly obvious. It had me wanting to pull my hair out and yell at him. Sorry but this story made me nuts.
I liked it a lot. At times it got bogged down in the domestic abuse descriptions but I prefer that - I connect better when things are not sugar coated. Flashbacks were effective here. I do agree Kohan did something strange towards the end- but it wasn't quite what everyone made it out to be. I did not think it that out of character. Though a build up to him being so hurt might have helped make that action palatable. Also that resolution, being built from the beginning, was too quick. Still - with its flaws it really was an amazing book with connecting the characters.
Some books you read because they're fluff - they pick you up and make you feel good, happy, loving.
Some books you read because they're intense - nail-biting, making your heart beat faster, making you sweat.
And then there are books like this one - brutal yet brilliant, sad yet beautiful, heartbreaking yet filled with hope. Ares will simultaneously break your heart and fill you with awe - awe at his strength, awe at his courage, awe at his ability to not only survive but still be a functioning (albeit somewhat broken) human being. And Kohan, dear, sweet Kohan - what a beautiful knight in shining armor, what a beacon of hope, what an amazing (although not perfect) man.
This is a tough read, I will say that. But when you think about the Ares' of the world - the real men (& women) who endure brutality at the hands of the one who supposedly loves them.....aren't a few tears from you a small price to pay? Damn right they are - and you'll not only feel better when you make it to the end....you'll be a better person - a more understanding one, more patient, more loving, more appreciative.
How can you not be?
